Bee sting (or Bienenstich) cake is a cake that was first made in Germany and comprises of a brioche type pastry filled with custard and topped with yummy, sticky honey almonds. To create this masterpiece, you can use the Well and Good Crusty Bread Mix to make the dough. There is also the option to create the dough using buckwheat and rice flour if you prefer cooking from scratch.

Bee sting cakeHere’s some useful trivia for you: It is believed that the name, bee sting, derives from it’s honey topping. A long time ago a baker made a delicious bee sting cake and left it to cool. However, bees were attracted to the honey and the end result was the baker getting stung! From that point on, it became known as a bee sting cake.
