Gluten Free Pasta Recipe

When our customers learn they can’t eat gluten, one of the foods they are most upset to miss out on is pasta. We’re happy to advise no-one needs to miss out. Simply follow our gluten free pasta recipe to make your own yummy pasta that’s wheat and nut free. Ravioli, fettucini, tagliatelle can all be made and we promise you’ll love it.

Ingredients

  • 400g (2½ cups) pastry flour mix:
  • 200ml water
  • 1 egg
  • Extra rice flour for dusting

Method

  1. Toss your gluten-free pastry flour into a stand mixer bowl. Add water and crack in the egg.
  2. Using a paddle, mix for 2.5 minutes on medium speed, creating a dough.
  3. Divide your dough into smaller portions. Roll it out by hand, or let a pasta roller do the heavy lifting.

Other uses for this gluten free pasta

1. Gluten Free Ravioli

Sprinkle your workbench with flour and roll out the dough to about 5mm. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles. Brush each circle with a touch of egg or water, then add your favourite filling. Fold them into half-moons, sealing them with your fingertips.

In a pot big enough for all the pasta (work on a 1:10 ratio), add a pinch of salt to the water. When it’s bubbling, gently drop in your pasta. Keep watch for those ravioli – they’re ready once they rise to the top of the pot. Be careful not to overcook.

Note: You can also make wontons using this recipe.

2. Egg noodles

Using the above recipe, you can also make egg noodles.

  • Add the pasta to soup at the last minute.
  • Use them in stir fries – add to boiling water till floating, drain and stir fry in hot oil.
  • Deep fried crispy noodles – boil until the pasta floats, then drain and toss in oil ready for deep frying.
